Ms. King is overjoyed to join the staff at Raytown High School, and begin her work with secondary level students and their families. Prior to coming to the high school, she worked fifteen years as school social worker at Eastwood Hills, and four years at the Success Academy (formerly known as Raytown Education Center). Ms. King has also worked in various mental/behavioral health settings, and continues to expand her practice knowledge on how best to support the mental, emotional, social, and physical well-being of students, families, staff, and the community as a social work practitioner. Ms. King holds sacred the stories that students and families share with her in their work together—especially as related to trauma—and understands the impact both environmental and general life experiences can have on us (at times, affecting our ability to positively cope with stressors). She utilizes a strengths perspective and systems approach in working with others to support them on their life journey.
